Not everything needs to be done first thing in the morning

The bus has gotten rather packed in the morning these past few weeks, with the drivers changing routes.  I now wait at least ten minutes longer for a bus that's so crowded, I'm usually standing in front of the yellow "No Standing In Front Of This Line" line -- which is a shame because the rush hour service on this route was absolutely perfect a month ago.

This morning, just to make life more interesting, a woman with two loosely-tied garbage bags very full of empty beer cans and bottles got on the bus at Shaws.  Apparently she had decided that Friday morning rush hour was a good time to make a large bottle-return run on a major bus route; I'm not sure what part of this plan appealed most to her common sense.  I have to assume the bottle machines at Shaws that were half a minute away don't take alcoholic empties. I have to.

I'd like to say the bus driver said to her "No, there is barely enough room for you on this bus even without your recycling.  You'll have to wait for one that isn't already packed full of morning commuters to bring your hundreds of leaky, stinky cans that, incidentally, the writer of this blog will basically have to step on to get off the bus."  I'd also like to say there was some actual drama to this story, but no, I got off two stops later.
